Plaintiff, on behalf of himself and other similarly situated individuals, filed a lawsuit against his former employer alleging that time he spent traveling to remote work sites was compensable under the Fair Labor Standards Act and should have counted toward hours worked toward overtime. The district court concluded that federal law required employers to treat employee travel to overnight work assignments as compensable work time when it occurs during normal work hours and defendant appealed the district court’s summary judgment order. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that the district court correctly granted summary judgment to the employees because the time they spent traveling to remote client job sites during their normal working hours was compensable under federal law.
