Plaintiff, a physician, filed a lawsuit against a medical facility where he was contracted to provide emergency medical services after a dispute regarding patient care and hospital policy led to plaintiff’s termination from the medical staffing company where he was employed. Plaintiff’s complaint alleged that defendants retaliated against him in violation of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. He also alleged state law claims including breach of contract, tortious interference with contractual relations and business expectations and defamation. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants and plaintiff appealed. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that no reasonable jury could find in favor of the plaintiff.
