Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Termination of Parental Rights
In a child custody matter, respondent appealed from a circuit court order finding him an unfit parent and terminating his parental rights, arguing that the record did not support the State’s grounds for unfitness and that termination was not in his child’s best interests. The appellate court affirmed, finding that the trial court did not err where respondent failed to make reasonable progress toward reunification and that there was sufficient evidence in the record to support the trial court’s best interest finding.
