It was a privilege to serve as Chair of ISBA’s Standing Committee on Women and the Law from 2000-2001. I’m currently the Managing Attorney at the UAW Legal Service Plan office in Belvidere, Illinois. Formerly, I was a sole practitioner and associate attorney in general practice, plaintiff, and defense firms. During my year as Chair, we presented a 2-day CLE event on Domestic Violence at the Chicago Regional Office. We featured several notable speakers, including Justice Mary Ann McMorrow, Circuit Judge Gloria Coco, and a domestic violence survivor. The CLE was very well received and well attended. Additionally, we had several active subcommittees and a monthly newsletter where we rated current events and news stories as “thumbs up” or “thumbs down”. Lastly, we continued the tradition of organizing receptions for local women attorneys and judges at all the Appellate Court Buildings around the State. I look forward to continuing to support the career advancement and growth of the women on the committee.
