Other associations: American Association for Justice; Appellate Lawyers; Celtic Legal Society; Chicago Bar; DuPage County Bar; Illinois Trial Lawyers; Justinians; North Suburban; Northwest Suburban; and Women's Bar associations. Issue Statement: Leader in advocating individual rights of lawyers through "Attorney's Bill of Rights" (1989) providing expungement of ARDC complaints made against attorneys. Throughout my 40 years at the bar I have worked to advance the interests of all members of our profession, especially solos and small firm lawyers. I will oppose any service taxes on legal transactions or services. I will lead the Association to combat the unauthorized practice of law including amending the rules to prevent advertisements by out-of-state lawyers who are not members of the Illinois bar. I will attack "Legal Shield" and other document generators who practice law without a license. I will develop CLE to help members adapt to new e-filing requirements adopted by the Supreme Court. I will push for member benefits to maintain our current membership and aid in the recruitment of seasoned and young lawyers to join our ranks. Committed to keeping ISBA the preeminent bar association of Illinois.
David B. Sosin, Orland Park. Current ISBA treasurer. Founding partner of Sosin & Arnold, Ltd. Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in 1972. Member, Illinois Trial Lawyers; DuPage County Bar Association; West Suburban Bar Association; DuPage Association of Women Lawyers; Decalogue Society. Past president of the Southwest Bar Association. Issue Statement: First and foremost, David believes that the practice of law is an honorable profession, and the ISBA's mission is to foster that belief with both its members and the public by promoting interest and service to the Bar by prospective lawyers in the early development of their legal careers. Utilizing Bar resources effectively to the greatest extent possible to develop law students into active YLD Members, and YLD members into future bar leaders.

She is the vice chair of the ISBA's State and Local Taxation Section Council (SALT) and is a member of the Standing Committee on Legal Technology where she is focused on improving the legislative review process for all sections and committees of the ISBA. As a member of SALT, Nora has been very active in combating the unlicensed practice of law state-wide. She writes a chapter on Specific Objection Lawsuits for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), has lectured numerous times for bar and other voluntary associations, and she teaches for the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. Nora is the founding president of the Women's Property Tax Association. Issue Statement: I will fight to establish a litigation fund so that the ISBA can bring civil suits now that it has standing to combat the unlicensed practice of law. I will focus on attracting, engaging, valuing, and retaining younger lawyers. I will seek to make the ISBA more relevant and more affordable to government lawyers whose contributions to the bar so often exceed the benefits that they receive. I will pursue a technological solution to the dated method by which our sections review legislation. I have never mistaken activity for accomplishment and I will be an efficient leader with respect for the time of others.

He currently sits on the Board's Standing Committee on Scope and Correlation. In addition to his elected offices, Al has served the ISBA in several different capacities including chair of the Standing Committee on Judicial Evaluations Cook County and Tort Law Section Council where he has been a member since 2001. He is a 1977 graduate of the DePaul University College of Law. Issue Statement: As a Governor, Al has advocated the importance of section councils and committees and the need for transparency in the government of the Association. In addition to the above, he was a vocal opponent to contraction of the assembly and board promoting instead the need for greater participation of association members in ISBA sections and Assembly.
Ava George Stewart, Chicago. Criminal defense attorney. Education: B.A. and M.S.C., Northwestern University; J.D., University of Illinois. Prior to becoming an attorney, I was executive director at several not-for-profit organizations, with a focus on homeless and disenfranchised women and children in diverse communities throughout Chicagoland. Issue Statement: ISBA's membership will greatly benefit from a more structured onboarding and engagement model. If elected, I will develop and implement innovative engagement programs to increase recruitment, membership participation and satisfaction, and improve sponsorship.

My son, a first year law student at DePaul, is a member of the ISBA. With my extensive marketing and PR background, I can help the ISBA get the word out on all that it offers. Free CLE, an innovative mentoring program that earns CLE, Illinois Bar Journal, newsletters, case updates – how does a lawyer live without the ISBA? All this for a reasonable membership fee is the message to Illinois lawyers.
