ISBA Central Discussions
ISBA Central communities allows section members to pose questions, answer questions, and share information with fellow section members. Members of the section get free access to the section’s community. Joining any section also grants you access to the Transactional and Litigation communities. Legislation
The Section Council reviewed 109 bills that may affect their members’ practice area. Highlights of the most recent legislative session include:
- Senate Bill 2979, which amends the Biometric Information Privacy Act, provides that a private entity that more than once collects or discloses a person's biometric identifier or biometric information from the same person in violation of the Act has committed a single violation for which the aggrieved person is entitled to, at most, one recovery.
- House Bill 4762 creates the Digital Voice and Likeness Protection Act.
- House Bill 4875 amends the Right of Publicity Act to enhance artists’ enforcement rights to protect outputs amidst the rise of deepfakes with artificial intelligence.
