Supreme Court adopts ethics code, addresses ’misunderstanding’ that justices feel unrestrained by rules

The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday that it has adopted an ethics code amid controversies stemming in part from Justice Clarence Thomas’ acceptance of luxury travel from wealthy friends. In a statement released with the new Code of Conduct for Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court said the code “largely represents a codification of principles that we have long regarded as governing our conduct.”
