 In July 2021, the ISBA launched an ISBA-sponsored radio program on 720 AM WGN Radio in Chicago. The show, Let’s Get Legal, allows ISBA members to book themselves on a friendly call-in show hosted by WGN’s Jon Hansen. The station’s 50,000-watt signal and streaming service reach more than 600,000 adults in the Chicagoland area and throughout the state, and attorneys who appear can gain credibility and name recognition with WGN’s loyal listeners.

The Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters were originally released in 2010, with the revised edition being published in December 2022. The Guidelines were written to provide a trustworthy resource for the housing, husbandry, medical, and behavioral care of animals living in animal shelters. Rather than being prescriptive or operational, the recommendations focus on meeting the animals’ needs, while recognizing that there are many ways in which to do this. The Guidelines offer evidence-based support to those caring for animals in shelters, rescues, fosters, sanctuaries, and other population settings. Don’t miss this important program that discusses the utility of these standards as attorneys face issues relevant to animal sheltering. Animal law attorneys, general practitioners, insurance law counsel, and government lawyers with all levels of practice experience who attend this online seminar will better understand:
  • What has changed with the revised edition of the Guidelines;
  • The risk management and liability implications of these standards;
  • How to evaluate a case that includes issues or facts concerning animal sheltering; and
  • How these standards might come into play in a client’s case concerning their pets.
