As part of May Member Appreciation Month, the ISBA for the first time is offering a Practice HQ Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win exciting prizes.

Practice HQ is the ISBA’s one-stop microsite for practice management and technology information. Organized by the life cycle of a law practice, Practice HQ provides free resources related to starting a firm, building it, managing it, protecting it, and winding it down.

May 2019 Bar Admission Ceremony Highlights

Illinois Supreme Court justices welcomed 335 new attorneys to the legal profession on May 9 during admissions ceremonies held at four different locations across the state. 

ISBA staff members were in attendance at all five ceremonies to welcome the state's newest attorneys to the profession, take photos, and talk about the benefits of ISBA membership, which is free for one year for new admittees. Member benefits can be activated by filling out the New Admittee Membership Form

All of those who were sworn in have passed the Illinois State Bar Examination and a required ethics examination and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness. They bring the total number of licensed attorneys in Illinois to approximately 96,300.

LAP Board of Directors Announces Diana Uchiyama as Executive Director

The Illinois Lawyers’ Assistance Program (LAP) has announced that Diana Uchiyama, JD, PsyD, has been named executive director. 

LAP Board President Mary K. O’Brien said: “Dr. Uchiyama was selected from a number of talented candidates because her qualifications as an attorney, psychologist, and program administrator demonstrated to our board that she will be successful in increasing the reach of LAP to every part of Illinois. We are looking forward to working with Dr. Uchiyama in her new role as executive director and offer her our sincere congratulations.”
