Going Green: Cannabis Lounges and the Implications for Food Regulators

As cannabis lounges become increasingly prevalent in Illinois, the convergence of restaurant, cannabis, and burgeoning lounge industries present a regulatory challenge. The current licensing and inspection processes may not adequately address the complexities of these hybridized business models. Consequently, there is a pressing need to either adapt existing regulatory frameworks or establish a new licensing schema to effectively govern these diverse industries. This article explores the regulatory implications and proposes strategies to ensure comprehensive oversight in this evolving landscape.
