Join us for lunch with featured speaker Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke.
For over thirty years as a prosecutor, defense attorney, judge, and now Cook County State's Attorney, Eileen O’Neill Burke has spent her career seeking justice for the people of Cook County from every side of the courtroom. Eileen was raised on the Northwest side by a single mother. She worked her way through school and graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and Chicago-Kent College of Law. Eileen worked on the front lines of the justice system as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney for ten years. After a decade as a prosecutor, Eileen worked as a criminal defense attorney, where she fought for people to receive justice and fairness in court. She was elected to and served in the trial courts for 8 years before she was elected to the First District Appellate Court in Cook County. Burke authored over 800 written decisions in both civil and criminal cases and reviewed over 1,800 trial court decisions. Burke and her husband of 34 years, John Burke, have raised 4 children.

Please join us at our annual Holiday Reception honoring the justices of the Supreme Court of Illinois. ISBA President Sonni Choi Williams and CBA President John C. Sciaccotta will welcome guests and introduce members of the Illinois Supreme Court and Justice Joy Cunningham will give remarks on behalf of the Supreme Court. The evening will continue with heavy hors d’oeuvre and dessert stations, refreshments, and entertainment.
Reception co-hosted by the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association and sponsored by Illinois Bar Foundation, DuPage County Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, Cook County Bar Association, and Public Interest Law Initiative.
