Job opening: Assistant counsel for Illinois Senate President
The Office of the Senate President, John J. Cullerton, is seeking highly motivated attorneys for the 2011 legislative session. This is a temporary position from January to May. All applicants must be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Attorneys will work on contract in Springfield and will be paid weekly travel expenses and a per diem to cover living expenses for those not residing in Springfield
Attorneys are assigned to several Senate committees and are responsible for conducting research, drafting legislation, analyzing legislation, and drafting legal memoranda. Successful candidates must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and must possess excellent writing skills, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment. This is a great opportunity to gain invaluable insight into the legislative process
