Chief Judge Diane S. Sykes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Brian Slade to a 14-year term as United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Slade succeeds Bankruptcy Judge A. Benjamin Goldgar who retired on August 30, 2024. Mr. Slade will take the oath of office and join the bankruptcy bench in Chicago on November 25, 2024.

Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, a national personal injury firm primarily based in Chicago, announces that Debra Liss Thomas has been named Managing Attorney. In this role, she will collaborate extensively with Managing and Senior Partner Gina A. DeBoni on administration of the firm, while also being responsible for continuing education programs and professional development of the firm’s attorneys and staff.

On May 8, 2024, 13 new lawyers were admitted to practice in the Second District of Illinois. The ceremony was held at the Hemmen’s Memorial Building Auditorium, 150 Dexter Court, in Elgin. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford presided over the ceremony. Illinois State Bar Association Treasurer Sarah Toney spoke at the ceremony.
