Hellenic Bar Association hosts Judge's Night
On March 21, 2011 the Hellenic Bar Association hosted a reception at the Greek Islands Restaurant in Greek Town to honor The Honorable Paul C. Lillios, The Honorable Demetrios G. Kottaras, The Honorable Nicholas Geannopoulos, and The Honorable Anthony C. Kyriakopoulos.
Judge Lillios, a past president of the Hellenic Bar Association, was recently appointed as the Associate Chief Administrative Law Judge for the United States Social Security Administration.
Judge Lillios leads and manages nationwide the administrative judiciary hearings process of the Social Security Administration. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago and is an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Judge Kottaras, a member of the Hellenic Bar Association’s Board of Directors, was appointed as a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County on September 24, 2007, and is currently assigned to the Juvenile Child Protection Division where he presides over child abuse and neglect cases. He began his career in private practice and became an Assistant State’s Attorney where he served as the supervisor of the Financial Crimes Unit. Judge Kottaras has also taught trial advocacy at Kent College of Law for over 15 years.
Judge Geannopoulos, a member of the Hellenic Bar Association, was appointed as a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County on February 1, 2008, and is currently assigned to the Juvenile Child Protection Division where he presides over child abuse and neglect cases. He began his legal career as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney assigned to the Criminal Division. Following his career an Assistant State’s Attorney, Judge Geannopoulos’ went into private practice concentrating in the areas of criminal defense and employment law.
Judge Kyriakopoulos, a member of the Hellenic Bar Association, was appointed as a Judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County on February 2, 2010, and is currently assigned to the First Municipal District, traffic section. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Kyriakopoulos was an Assistant State’s Attorney for over 19 years and was assigned to several areas including the Money Laundering Unit. Judge Kyriakopoulos is a Parish Council member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Chicago.
Over 70 people attended the event, including Hellenic Bar members and approximately 20 other Circuit Court judges. The celebration Honoring these tremendous members of the judiciary went well into the evening and was enjoyed by all who attended.
