Featured Speaker Chaiann Bao is the Secretary-General of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).  As Secretary-General, she functions as the chief executive of the HKIAC and oversees the administration of over 600 arbitrations, mediations, adjudications and other forms of dispute resolution proceedings at the HKIAC.    She also ensures the HKIAC performs the statutory functions of the HKIAC in appointing arbitrators and mediators, and leads the team in promoting the use o Hong Kong arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution worldwide. Prior to joining HKIAC, Ms. Bao worked with several international law firms and clerked at ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris. She also worked with Neil Kaplan, CBE QC SBS in London as an arbitration assistant.  Ms. Bao lectures on international arbitration at the City University of Hong Kong and regularly speaks on international arbitration, with a focus on Asia. Ms. Bao is a Cornell University graduate and Fulbright Scholar in China. She obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Master of Arts in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from the City University of Hong Kong. She is admitted to the New York and Wisconsin Bars. HKIAC was established in 1985 by a group of leading business and professional people in Hong Kong to be the focus for dispute resolution in Asia.  It has been generously funded by the business community and by the Hong Kong Government but it is totally independent of both and financially self-sufficient.  To learn more about the HKIAC, please visit, www.hkiac.org.
