First no texting, now no talking?
Will Illinois join the states that prohibit drivers from talking on cell phones and using other hand-held devices? Maybe. A bill has been introduced in the General Assembly that would prohibit all hand-held telephone use while driving a vehicle in Illinois, Adam Lasker writes in the March IBJ.

This is government over reach at its finest. Quit trying to protect us from ourselves and make sure the laws we already have on the books work - which sadly, many of our traffic and criminal laws, where this proposal will fall - do not.
I have a mediation practice in West Hollywood, and commute between LA and Chicago until this is my principal residence. The no cell phone use has been on the books here for years, yet look at drivers on the freeways going 25 mph below the limit and guess what? Since the fines are greater for speeding and violating car pool lane rules, guess what doesn't get enforced? Good in theory, but......
Besides, this past week there have been a half-dozen poilce chases, with the one last night resulting with a round of gunfire killing a (suspected) car-jacker, broadcast on every major newscast. Guess the insurance lobby isn't as strong as thought.
