CLE: Reel MCLE Series: How Many Ethical Dilemmas Can You Spot?
Join us in Lake Geneva on June 20th (during ISBA’s Annual Meeting) for this unique program in which the hit TV show “Boston Legal” (Season 1, Episode 4)** and two additional videos containing ethical legal scenarios are used as a sounding board for identifying, understanding, and analyzing the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct – making this the perfect educational tool for learning about professional responsibility.
The program opens with a short presentation and review of the Illinois Rules of Professional Responsibility, as well as a review of recent Supreme Court decisions on Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission findings. The video clips are then presented to attendees as an alternative approach to traditional CLE programs with the speakers occasionally pausing to discuss the on-screen ethical dilemmas. Each quandary is analyzed by the presenters and discussed by the group before moving on with the video. A discussion on the differences between real practice and the video is also included.
The program is presented by Clifford Scott-Rudnick, Director of Continuing Legal Education and Assistant Professor at The John Marshall Law School and Richard Adler, and attorney and movie expert who frequently uses popular movies to lead educational and informative discussion groups. It qualifies for 3.0 hours MCLE credit, including 3.0 hours Professional Responsibility MCLE credit (subject to approval).
**Please Note: “Reel MCLE: Boston Legal” (Season 1, Episode 4) was originally presented on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at ISBA’s 9th Annual Solo & Small Firm Conference in Itasca, Illinois. Attorneys may not earn credit for attending the same seminar within a 12-month period.
