Carrying on a family name known throughout the legal community, the next generation joins the distinguished family law firm

The law firm of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP announces the addition of Amy Schiller as a new associate in the Chicago office. Joining the firm as a law clerk in 2012, Schiller practices family law with a strong focus on property issues and the complex financial and custody matters facing professional athletes and entertainers.

Schiller’s parents divorced when she was a teenager, inspiring her decision to pursue a career in family law. According to Schiller, she saw this as an opportunity to help people through a terrible situation. Using her own experience and perspective to help advocate for her clients, she understands the importance of providing individualized attention to every case and reassuring clients through one of the most difficult times of their lives.

However, family law was nothing new to the Schiller family. When choosing a law school, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her great uncle, Don Schiller, the founding partner of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP. The California native moved to Chicago to attend law school at DePaul University. While in school, she spent nearly three years as a clerk at the firm where her passion for family law continued to grow.

“During her clerkship at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck, Amy has earned a reputation as a hard-worker and an objective legal mind. Schiller received her bachelor’s degree from University of California at Santa Barbara and later earned her J.D. from DePaul University’s School of Law. She served as the Editor-In-Chief of the DePaul Journal of Sports Law and Contemporary Problems and was a Student Advisory Board Member for DePaul’s Child and Family Law Center. While in law school, Schiller served as Legislative Liaison for the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Section’s Family Law Committee. In 2013, she created and presented a seminar teaching at-risk youth, girls ages 9-14, about laws to help them stay safe in the streets for the annual “Just Us Girls Conference” that is now taught annually.

Originally from San Jose, Calif., Schiller currently resides in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood and is an active member of the community. Her lifelong interest in sports has led to her focus on family law matters facing professional athletes and is a large part of her personal life today. She participates in several intramural sports and recreational leagues in the community throughout the year.
