Public Interest Law Initiative to host Annual Pro Bono Reception

44 law firms and corporations named to PILI’s Pro Bono Recognition Roster

The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) will host its Annual Pro Bono Reception next week on Wednesday, June 17th at The Ivy Room at Tree Studios. This event, sponsored by 38 Illinois law firms and corporations, is held each year to celebrate the pro bono triumphs of the Illinois legal community and to spotlight the critically-needed pro bono work being done in our state, including the work of PILI’s Pro Bono Initiative Program.

At the event, PILI will announce its 2015 Pro Bono Recognition Roster, which recognizes law firms and corporations whose substantial pro bono contributions are making a difference in Illinois over the past year. This year, 44 have qualified for the Pro Bono Recognition Roster and will be featured at the event.

“Law firm and corporate pro bono programs play a huge rule in expanding access to justice for Illinois’ neediest,” says PILI’s Executive Director, Michael Bergmann. “PILI is thrilled to be honoring law firms and corporations in Illinois that make pro bono a priority. They are literally changing the lives of the clients they serve.”

Over 250 guests from across the state typically attend PILI’s Annual Pro Bono Reception, including pro bono leaders from law firms and corporations, as will area law school representatives, legal service agency partners, and the current class of PILI Interns and Fellows. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke will deliver remarks.
