Elgin attorney Loren S. Golden of Golden Law Offices recently received an award for “Trial Lawyer Excellence” from the Jury Verdict Reporter, a division of Chicago-based Law Bulletin Publishing Company. 

Golden was awarded this honor for outstanding representation of his client, who had injuries sustained in a grain bin accident. The three-week jury trial for the case was held in Carroll County, Illinois.  The verdict was appealed by the defense and the Second District Appellate Court in Elgin affirmed the jury verdict of $830,109.50, the highest reported Carroll County Verdict in a personal injury case. Recently, the Supreme Court of Illinois denied Defendant’s request for leave to appeal that decision, making the verdict final.

The award presentation was made at the “6th Annual JVR Awards for Trial Lawyer Excellence” hosted by the Jury Verdict Reporter. More than 250 trial attorneys and Illinois judges were in attendance at the event held on October 21, 2015 at the Winter Garden atop the  Harold Washington Library in Chicago. 

For the past 33 years, Golden has practiced law in the Elgin and West Dundee areas. He concentrates in personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death. Over the years, he has negotiated many large personal injury awards for his clients through settlement or trial. 

A native of Kewanee, Illinois, Golden served as Carroll County’s state’s attorney from 1972 to 1976.  He received his Juris Doctorate from Drake University in 1968.

Golden is a former president and member of the Illinois State Bar Association and a member of the Kane County Bar Association and Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.

A jazz pianist, Golden performs with the Elgin Reunion Jazz Ensemble and has appeared over the years with various nationally known guest artists. He also performs in the Kane County Bar Association variety show. Formerly, he appeared as a professional actor in summer stock theatre.

Golden and his wife Patricia Piper Golden, Judge (Retired) reside in West Dundee. They have three adult children, Josh Golden, an associate film editor in Hollywood, California; Zach Golden, a music supervisor, composer and performer in New York City; and Julie Golden, producer of the Lifetime reality TV show, Child Genius.
