Charles (Chuck) Mason Kierscht, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Hinsdale, IL, surrounded by his loved ones on June 29, 2017. Born April 4, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Kierscht. Chuck was the beloved husband of Marion, devoted and loving father to Charlie (Jennifer), Matthew (Brenda), Susan (Denny) Georgopulos, and Cynthia. Adored by his grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Ryan, Kennedy and Leah, he was proud and happy to be with them. Chuck received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Iowa in 1960 and his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1962.  After proudly serving in the Navy, Chuck joined Kemper Financial Services as an attorney in 1966 and retired from the company in 1995 as chairman, president and CEO. Putting all others before himself, he generously gave his time volunteering for many organizations, including 26 years on the University of Iowa Foundation and 24 years on the Law School Foundation. He recently served as chairman of the Grant Park Music Festival, and chairman of Friends of the Forest Preserves in Cook County. His service also included support for the Field Museum, Boy Scouts of America, Chicago Urban League, the Crusade of Mercy/United Way, and the Greater Chicago Food Depository, among others. His smile and gentle manner will be missed by all who knew him.
