Myles L. Jacobs, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his loving daughter and grandchildren at his side.

Myles was born in New York City, the son of the late Julius and Frieda (nee Gieber) Jacobs. He was a longtime Joliet resident, residing the past year at Senior Star in Romeoville. Myles was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, honorably discharged with the rank of first lieutenant. He received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., and his law degree from New York University School of Law.

Myles began his career with Robson, Masters, Ryan, Brumund & Belom and maintained this affiliation through many name changes to the current firm of Castle Law. Recently Myles continued to serve as of counsel for the firm, where he was a frequent presenter at seminars, mentored the firm attorneys, advised on cases, and was an ardent supporter and advocate of the firm in the community. He was dedicated to the integrity of the profession, and enjoyed passing his knowledge and experience to generations of young attorneys.

He recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association's Real Estate Section, earning this prestigious award for his many years of dedication, service and guidance to the Illinois legal community. Myles served as chairman/co-chairman of the Real Estate Law Section Council Continuing Legal Education Program Committee for many years and was chairman of the Real Estate Law Section Council from 2002 until 2003.

Myles was the editor-in-chief of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Handbook on Residential Real Estate and chief drafter of the Three Rivers Association of Realtors Residential Real Estate Contract. Myles contributed his knowledge to many publications over his career, an accomplishment of which he was very proud.

While living at Senior Star, where he thrived, he led a monthly current events discussion group, and was the recipient of the Most Knowledgeable Award. He also led a discussion group at Joliet Jewish Congregation.

Myles is survived by his loving daughter, Julia Gordon Jacobs; his two grandsons, Draedyn and Charles Sanford; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Freeman and husband, Marc, and family, and Diana Klevens, and husband, David, and family.

He was preceded by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Ann (nee Gordon) Jacobs (Dec. 17, 2015); and one sister, Ruth Ann Clark.
