Illinois Supreme Court Announces Judicial Appointments
The Illinois Supreme Court has announced the appointments of nine Illinois judges.
The appointments are as follows:
- Sondra Denmark has been appointed Cook County circuit judge in the Second Judicial Subcircuit. She was appointed to fill the vacancy created as a result of the retirement of the Hon. Alexander P. White. The appointment takes effect Dec. 27, 2018, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.
- Gerardo Tristan, Jr., has been appointed Cook County circuit judge in the Fourteenth Judicial Subcircuit. He was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Robert Bertucci. The appointment takes effect Jan. 11, 2019, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.
- Lynn Weaver Boyle was appointed an at-large Cook County circuit judge. She was appointed to fill the vacancy created as a result of the retirement of the Hon. Sebastian T. Patti. The appointment takes effect Jan. 11, 2019 and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.

James T. Derico, Jr., was appointed an at-large Cook County circuit judge. He was appointed to fill the vacancy of the Hon. Matthew Coghlan as a result of the 2018 general election. The appointment takes effect Jan. 18, 2019, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.

Kerrie Maloney Laytin was appointed an at-large Cook County circuit judge. She was appointed to fill the vacancy created as a result of the retirement of the Hon. Carole K. Bellows. The appointment takes effect Jan. 18, 2019, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.
- Gail L. Noll was appointed an at-large circuit judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. She was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Leslie J. Graves on Dec. 2, 2018. The appointment takes effect on Jan. 7, 2019, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, when the vacancy will be filled by the winner of the November 2020 general election.
- Raylene DeWitte Grischow was appointed a resident circuit judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. She was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the election of Judge Peter Cavanagh to the Fourth District Appellate Court as of Dec. 3, 2018. The appointment takes effect on Jan. 7, 2019, and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, when the vacancy will be filled by the winner of the November 2020 general election.
- Brian L. Bower was selected to be an associate judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
- James F. Heuerman was selected to be an associate judge of the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit.
