PILI Announces Elizabeth R. Boe as New Managing Attorney
The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) has announced that Elizabeth R. Boe is its new managing attorney.
She will be responsible for helping to expand and enhance pro bono legal assistance across the state by overseeing the activity of PILI’s Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees and PILI’s participation in the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN).
Boe has worked at DePaul University College of Law since 2011, first as the assistant director of public interest law in law career services and then as the director of externships and the Pro Bono and Community Service Initiative. In her most recent role, she planned, managed, and supervised students in various pro bono and volunteer opportunities, maintained partner relationships with local legal aid agencies, and planned pro bono programming and other events celebrating pro bono. She has also provided nonprofit consulting services.
She received a bachelor’s degree in international relations with a minor in religious studies from Beloit College and a Juris Doctor from DePaul University with a certificate in international and comparative law. Additionally, Boe regularly volunteers as an attorney supervisor with the Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project, which is DePaul’s weekly pro bono help desk, and as a hotline attorney with CARPLS.
Boe will be located in Chicago and has experience around the state, having grown up visiting family in Ottawa where her grandfather and uncle both practiced law.
