Land of Lincoln Legal Aid Renames Champaign Office in Memory of Attorney John Phipps
Land of Lincoln Legal Aid recently announced that it is renaming its Champaign office in memory of local attorney John Phipps.
Phipps, an active member of the ISBA and an original founder of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, died in August.
In 1972, he signed Land of Lincoln Legal Aid’s original incorporating documents and sat on the organization’s board of directors. In 1983, he was elected chair and president of the board and actively served in that role until 1994, when he stepped down.
The organization plans to host an event recognizing the newly named John Phipps Community Law Center when the pandemic abates and health and safety regulations allow for it.
