Illinois Supreme Court Swears In New Attorneys at Virtual Bar Admission Ceremony
The bar admission ceremony for the 1,269 new attorneys who passed the July 2021 Bar Exam was held online on Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. Chief Justice Anne M. Burke presided over the ceremony and administered the oath to the new admittees.
Justice Mary Jane Theis made the motion to admit the class, and Justice David K. Overstreet seconded the motion.
“The Supreme Court would like to congratulate the new admittees on passing the bar exam,” Chief Justice Anne M. Burke said. “This is a great achievement and we welcome you to the legal profession.”
All of the candidates passed the Illinois State Bar Examination and a required ethics examination and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.
The number of admittees for each district was as follows:
• First District: 1,024
• Second District: 127
• Third District: 41
• Fourth District: 48
• Fifth District: 29
