Public Service and the ISBA
Of the many ways the Illinois State Bar Association serves the public, judicial evaluations, high school mock trial competitions, and providing the public with legal information tops them all. But as the October Illinois Bar Journal cover story (“Public Service and the ISBA”) shows, there is much, much more.
Since its original 1916 charter, the ISBA has considered public service to be part of its mission. During this election season, the association’s judicial evaluations and ratings are perhaps its most top-of-mind public service. Other popular ISBA programs include high school mock trial competitions and civics education presentations for all ages. One takeaway is that the ISBA prides itself on giving back, and in ways that spotlight its members and the vital role of the legal profession in Illinois.
