Illinois Supreme Court to Swear-In New Attorneys at Bar Admission Ceremony
The bar admission ceremony for the 1,342 new attorneys who passed the July 2022 Bar Exam will be held online on Thursday, November 17, at 1:30 p.m. Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis will preside over the ceremony and administer the oath to the new admittees. Justice Anne M. Burke will make the motion to admit the class and Justice Robert L. Carter will second the motion.
“On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to congratulate the new admittees on passing the bar exam and becoming attorneys,” Chief Justice Theis said. “We welcome you to the legal profession and urge you to remember the oath you have taken here today to support the Illinois and U.S. Constitutions.”
All of the candidates set to be sworn in have passed the Illinois State Bar Examination and a required ethics examination and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness. The number of admittees for each district is as follows:
- First District: 1,094
- Second District: 72
- Third District: 80
- Fourth District: 43
- Fifth District: 53
