Illinois Supreme Court Appoints Deidre Dyer as At-Large Circuit Judge of Cook County
Justice Joy V. Cunningham and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Deidre M. Dyer as an At-Large Cook County Circuit Judge.
Ms. Dyer was appointed to fill the At-Large vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Arnette Hubbard on December 4, 2022. The appointment is effective April 28, 2023, and will conclude December 2, 2024, following the November 2024 general election.
“Deidre Dyer has had broad legal experience which positions her well to be a circuit court judge. She is respected by her peers and colleagues for her legal ability and excellent temperament,” Justice Cunningham said. “She is dedicated to public service and serving as a judge of the circuit court of Cook County is the highest and best use of her talents and experience.”
Ms. Dyer has served in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office since 2009 where she is the Deputy Supervisor of Public Corruption, Financial Crimes, Money Laundering, and Consumer Fraud, as well as the Chair of the Benefit Fraud Committee. From 2006 to 2009 she served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Special Prosecutions Bureau in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Ms. Dyer was Supervising Regional Counsel for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Office of Legal Services from 2001 to 2006 and from 1999 to 2001 was an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Kankakee County State's Attorney's Office.

Ms. Dyer earned her Bachelor of Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University and received her Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law.
Her professional associations include the Cook County Bar Association and the South Suburban Bar Association. She is a public speaker and presenter on a variety of legal issues and was named as the National Insurance Crime Bureau's Prosecutor Partner of the Year in 2020.
