Entrepreneurial Firm Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres Adds Food and Drug Law Practice Group to Growing List of Services
Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres LLC (CFDB), the forward-thinking firm founded by entrepreneurially minded Big Law alumni, has added another new area of practice to its suite of services: representing clients in Food and Drug Law matters.
The firm provides a range of advisory, compliance and enforcement defense services for companies involved in the development, manufacture, packaging and distribution of products regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including food, food additives, dietary supplements, drugs, cosmetics and medical devices.
Eric Greenberg chairs CFDB’s Food and Drug Law practice group, drawing on his deep experience in advising clients on a wide range of product development and compliance matters involving the FDA and state agencies. Greenberg is a recognized leader in the industries he serves. He advises clients on labeling issues, compliance matters, and new product development projects relating to food and food packaging materials, and handles related litigation. He wrote the first-ever legal reference book for packaging professionals. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars in the U.S. and other countries, and for many years has taught courses on food labeling and food contact materials, and teaches courses on packaging law at California Polytechnic State University. Eric is a member of the Illinois Food Safety Advisory Committee, which brings together government and private entities to share food safety information and developments. He has served as legal columnist for packaging industry trade publications for over 30 years.
“Food and drug law matters are often complex, as each company making or packing or repacking or holding or shipping or receiving an FDA-regulated product has its own independent obligation to be in compliance with the FDA’s requirements,” Greenberg said. “So, as supply chains grow longer, more and more businesses are finding that they need experienced guidance to help them through the legal and practical issues they face in this area.”
The CFDB Food & Drug Law team works with clients on compliance with FDA and other legal and regulatory requirements from initial development, through entrance into the market and during marketing, helping manage inspections, alleged violations, recalls and other issues.
“Since our founding, it’s been our mission to be a true partner to our clients as they face accelerating expectations and the complexity that comes with succeeding in today’s marketplace,” said CFDB founding partner and management committee co-chair Jessica Fairchild. “We’re thrilled to be adding to our depth by focusing in on the food and drug industries, which will help our clients in those areas navigate challenging business and regulatory environments.”
Greenberg is joined by Kerry T. Rost in helping CFDB’s food and drug industry clients stay a step ahead of their competitors by planning, preparing, evaluating, analyzing and executing product plans. Rost is an accomplished commercial litigator and legal advisor who also trained as a doctor of podiatric medicine, bringing her insights into the scientific, health and safety issues facing FDA-regulated businesses.
“Having Eric and Kerry as part of our team illustrates our focus on strategic market growth,” said CFDB partner and management committee co-chair Lisa Duarte. “We continue to work with clients at the intersection of business and government, drawing on our own experience in the public sector and as entrepreneurs to deliver unparalleled value in the areas of practice that matter most to our clients.”
