The Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism is pleased to announce that Becky Harris has joined the organization as its Instructional Design Manager.

In this role, Harris will expand the Commission’s role as a thought leader in professional responsibility legal education, including engaging with Illinois continuing legal education (CLE) course providers to promote educational best practices and collaborating with Commission stakeholders to advance the Commission’s legal professionalism mission.

Harris will also design and develop in-person and online CLE courses for Illinois lawyers and judicial education for Illinois judges.

“Becky brings to the Commission remarkable proficiencies in adult learning that will support our CLEs and larger educational strategy, including the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program, the Future Is Now: Legal Services conference, and judicial education,” said Erika Harold, Executive Director of the Commission on Professionalism. “Becky is an excellent addition to our team and will help us continue to elevate continuing legal education in Illinois.”

Harris has more than 30 years of experience in learning strategy and instructional design. Prior to joining the Commission, she was the Principal Learning Strategist at Media Workshop, Inc., where she provided custom instructional design services with an emphasis on eLearning solutions.

She has developed learning solutions for several Fortune 100 companies and nonprofit associations, translating educational content into workplace applications and using technology to support performance improvement.

Examples of recent projects include designing a coaching-based curriculum to teach skills like advanced communication, project management, and personal growth, and developing a strategy to upskill medical professionals to deliver advanced, patient-centric care for a new specialty clinic.

Earlier in her career, Harris was the Director of Applied Learning Technologies for the American Society of Clinical Pathology and held instructional design roles at the Informational Design Guild, Purple Monkey Studios, and R.R. Donnelley & Sons.

She holds the Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation from the International Society for Performance Improvement and the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPLP) designation from the Association for Talent Development.

Harris has a master’s degree in instructional performance technology from Boise State University and a bachelor’s in telecommunications from Indiana University. She also serves on the board of Literacy DuPage, an adult literacy nonprofit.

“I am thrilled to put my skills as a learning strategist and instructional designer to work at the Commission on Professionalism, developing educational initiatives that support a more civil and inclusive legal profession,” Harris said. “I look forward to collaborating with the Commission staff and our stakeholders to ensure that our educational content and activities align with the objectives set forth by the Illinois Supreme Court.”
