The Illinois State Bar Assocation's Young Lawyers Division will host a "Day at the Races" on Sept. 26 to benefit the Children's Assistance Program. This event will take place from noon-6 p.m. at Arlington Park Racecourse, Marquee Tent 3 in the Miller Lite Party Deck in Arlingon Heights. Tickets will be available at 11:30 a.m. at the Grandstand Entrance at the Will Call window. The cost is $60 per person and includes admission, daily racing guide, private party deck, soft drinks, beer, wine and appetizers from 12:30-6 p.m. The deadline is Sept. 15 and space is limited. Gould, a managing member at Gould & Pakter Associates LLC, has been named Chairperson of the Illinois CPA Society. With more than 25 years of experience, Lee specializes in performing valuations of closely-held businesses, financial damages determinations and forensic accounting investigations.  He provides business valuation consulting services for family law matters, shareholder litigation and estate and gift tax purposes.  Lee performs lost profit and financial damages calculations in commercial litigation matters including breach of contract and business interruption claims. He also conducts forensic accounting analyses to assist in locating unreported or hidden assets, determining the source of funds used to acquire assets and investigating claims of misappropriation. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics and Accredited in Business Valuation. The Illinois CPA Society, founded in 1903, is the fifth largest state society in the nation with more than 24,000 members. It is the premier professional organization representing CPA in Illinois. During its over 100 years of existence, the Society has advanced the highest ethical and financial standards of the profession, and has been a leader in educating the public on financial issues.

A benefit to support a summer judicial internship program for qualified law students will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, by the Lawyer's Auxiliary Committee of the Illinois Judges Foundation. The Foundation fund-raiser "Batter Up for Justice" will take place at the Lakeview Baseball Club, 3633 N. Sheffield. It will begin at 11:05 a.m., one hour before the Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds. The admission fee of $150 per person includes admission and an open bar throughout the game. A portion of each contribution is tax-deductible.
