Drew T. Erwin has been appointed at-large circuit judge in the Eighth Judicial Circuit.
Erwin is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Mark A. Drummond on Aug. 5. The appointment takes effect on Sept. 6 and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, when the vacancy will be filled by the winner of the November 2020 general election.

Judge Mary Ellen Coghlan has been assigned as an appellate court justice in the First District.
Judge Coghlan was assigned to fill the opening created by the retirement of Appellate Justice Mary Anne Mason. The assignment of Judge Coghlan takes effect on July 30, and will remain in effect until further order of the court.
Teresa Molina has been appointed as an at-large Cook County circuit judge.
The appointment is effective July 24 and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.
The Illinois Supreme Court on July 19 entered an order amending Rule 280.2, which updates the requirements for complaints in credit card or debt buyer collection actions.
The amendment is effective immediately. Additionally, the court amended the accompanying affidavit form for actions under the Rule.
Emily S. Sutton has been appointed as an at-large circuit judge in the Ninth Judicial Circuit.
The appointment is effective Aug. 12 and will conclude Dec. 6, 2020, when the position will be filled by the November 2020 general election.
Sutton has worked in private practice since 2008, first as an associate with Scholz, Loos, Palmer, Siebers & Duesterhaus, LLP, and most recently as a partner at Lucie, Scalf, Sutton & Bougher, Attorneys at Law, P.C. From 2012 to 2015, she was also a contract author for Thomson Reuters Corporation, and served as co-author of the Illinois Civil Trial Handbook. Sutton was a law clerk to Fourth District Appellate Justice Robert W. Cook from 2004-2008 and has also served on the adjunct faculty at Quincy University.
Tyria B. Walton has been appointed as a Cook County circuit judge in the First Judicial Subcircuit.
The appointment is effective June 25 and will conclude on Dec. 7, 2020, following the November 2020 general election.
Walton has served for over 20 years as an assistant public defender in the law office of the Cook County Public Defender, with a primary focus in first-degree murder defense. Over the past year, she has won her clients six not guilty verdicts in murder trials.
John G. Mulroe has been appointed as a Cook County Circuit Judge in the Tenth Judicial Subcircuit.
Mulroe was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas Allen. The appointment is effective June 21, and will conclude December 7, 2020, when the position will be filled by the November 2020 General Election.
In preparation of the civil filing code and fee changes required as a result of Public Act 100-987, pursuant to the Clerks of Courts Act (705 ILCS 105/27.1b) effective July 1, eFileIL will be unavailable statewide starting at noon Friday, June 28, until 8 a.m. Monday, July 1.
Filers will be unable to submit documents to the court through eFileIL during this time, but will be permitted to file paper documents locally at the appropriate clerk’s office during regular business hours without needing to submit a Certificate of Exemption from e-Filing form.
The Illinois Supreme Court today amended Rule 295, which pertains to matters assignable to associate judges.
The amended Rule, which goes into effect July 1, provides:
“The chief judge of each circuit or any circuit judge designated by him or her may assign an associate judge to hear and determine any matters deemed suitable by the chief judge or designated circuit judge, including the trial of criminal cases in which the defendant is charged with an offense punishable by imprisonment for more than one year.”
