    ISBA seeks members to highlight on Lawyers Care blog

    In addition to performing quality legal work, many lawyers are hard at work in the community supporting a good cause, yet their contributions often go unrecognized.

    IllinoisLawyerFinder.com, the ISBA’s website for the public, hosts a blog called “Lawyers Care.” In it, we share the philanthropic side of lawyers by featuring their community service, such as supporting a food and clothing drive, creating a scholarship program for a local school, or hosting an innovative fundraiser to help those in need.

    ISBA Lawyers Care program recognizes 10 lawyers for their service to military families
    [caption id="attachment_18156" align="alignright" width="550" caption="This ad is appearing in newspapers statewide to recognize ISBA members who assist military personnel and their families."][/caption] As part of its Lawyers Care program, 10 members of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) have been recognized for their service on behalf of members of the military and their families. The ISBA members – William W. Austin, Effingham; Steven B. Bashaw, Lisle; Janice L. Boback, Chicago; Tambra K. Cain, Carbondale; William L. Cleaver, Moline; Larry A. Davis, Des Plaines; Roza Gossage, Belleville; Kenneth T. Lumb, Chicago; John Lynn (posthumous), Carbondale; and Cheryl A. Powell, Mt. Vernon; – will be recognized in a statewide print advertising campaign, according to ISBA President Mark D. Hassakis, of Mt. Vernon, who launched Lawyers Care to recognize the many ways in which lawyers make a difference in their communities. “These lawyers have gone above and beyond to help members of the military with their legal problems, including employment issues, civil and criminal court actions, and family issues that, unfortunately, sometimes arise for deployed soldiers,” Hassakis said. “These lawyers are not alone in rising to meet the legal needs of military families.

    ISBA presents first "Lawyers Care" award to Bloomington attorneys, ISU
    Bloomington attorneys Scott Kording (left) and Mick Hall (second from right), as well as Thomas McClure, a professor and director of legal studies at Illinois State University in Normal, display the “Lawyers Care” plaques they received from Illinois State Bar Association President Mark D. Hassakis (right) at a reception on September 9 at the Bone Student Center on the university campus. Kording, Hall and the university were honored for their many hours of pro bono service to the ISU Mock Trial Program.
