Appellate attorney Michael T. Reagan has opened his own office after nearly 30 years with Herbolsheimer, Lannon, Henson, Duncan and Reagan, P.C. Reagan practices law throughout the state - including Chicago - and has argued cases before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the state supreme and appellate courts.
He concentrates on appeals and also handles civil litigation and critical motions. Reagan remains in the same office space and has the same phone numbers from his time with the Herbolsheimer firm. His email address is mreagan@reagan-law.com.
Reagan graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1972 and was admitted to the Illinois bar that same year. He has served as chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Tort Law Section Council and is a past president of the Appellate Lawyers Association. He served on the Supreme Court's Pattern Civil Jury Instructions Committee for a number of years, including time as Reporter for the Committee. He was the recipient of ISBA's Matthew Maloney Tradition of Excellence Award in 2009.
Teaming with ISBA Past President Tim Eaton, he presents an annual review of Illinois Supreme Court opinions for ISBA members and helps write same-day reviews of Illinois Supreme Court civil opinions for the Illinois Lawyer Now online publication.

Former ISBA Assembly member H. Karl Huntoon, 61, a proud Moline man who valued and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his family, his friends, his clients, and his community, passed away January 1, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa, after a short battle with aggressive brain cancer. A time to celebrate Karl’s life will be held Sunday, January 9, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Moline Public Library. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the H. Karl Huntoon Memorial Fund, care of The Moline Foundation, 817 11th Avenue, Moline, IL 61265. This fund will be used to continue Karl’s efforts to continually improve the library and the community. Private family burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family. Karl was born December 19, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa, to Harry Kline and Margit Anderson Huntoon. During the summer of 1970, he attended summer school at Dartmouth College, where he met his wife of 38 years Andrea Dickgiesser. They were married July 29, 1972, in Woodbridge, Conn. He graduated from Moline Senior High School in 1968. He then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he received a B.S. with honors in Economics in 1972. He then received a Juris Doctor Degree from the College of Law at the University of Illinois in 1975. He was accepted to the Illinois State Bar Association on October 15, 1975, and the Iowa State Bar Association on August 19, 1992. He was also admitted to the U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois and the U.S. Tax Court.

The Illinois Supreme Court announced today that Michael C. Jansz received a majority of the votes cast by the circuit judges in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit and is appointed to the office of associate judge. Mr. Jansz received his undergraduate degree in 1985 from the Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and his Juris Doctor in 1988 from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Former ISBA Board of Governors member John Holmstrom Jr. passed away on Tuesday, July 20. Mr. Holmstrom was a a partner at Holmstrom & Kennedy Law Firm in Rockford, and served as a captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. Mr. Holmstrom played a key role in the Japanese surrender in the war, encoding the message to the Department of War of the exact time that the surrender was confirmed.
