The Illinois State Bar Association honored members who have been admitted to practice for 50 years at a luncheon Dec. 13 at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Chicago. Moline attorney Martin Katz spoke on behalf of the Class of 1962 Class of Distinguished Counsellors.

The ISBA Young Lawyers Division held its annual Holiday Party on Dec. 7 at the Cubby Bear in Chicago. The YLD Holiday Party has raised over $350,000 for the Children’s Assistance Fund over the past 14 years.

Recently, the Chicago Alumni Chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity recognized two members of our legal community for their career-long contributions to improving our profession. The Hon. William H. Hooks of the Circuit Court of Cook County and Michele M. Jochner, a long-time judicial law clerk for the Illinois Supreme Court and now partner at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP, were given the 2012 Hon. Mary Ann G. McMorrow Service to the Profession Award during a ceremony held at the Hotel InterContinental Magnificent Mile.

Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity recently conducted its Fall 2012 District XI Initiation. The group welcomed nearly 300 new members in a ceremony presided over by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke in the auditorium at the James R. Thompson Center. The initiates pledged to advance the fraternity's core values of integrity, courage, compassion, professionalism and diversity through service to the student, the school, the profession and the community. Among the new members were Hon. Anita Alvarez, Cook County State's Attorney, and Gregory Mark, Dean of DePaul University College of Law.
