Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed into law on May 13, 2022, the first major overhaul of the Residential Real Property Disclosure Act (the “Act”) since its enactment in 1994. Over the span of 30-plus years since the original effective date of the Act, developments in electronic communication, new statutes, and real-world practical experience all generated the need for a thorough review. The Illinois Supreme Court announced today the adoption of a new Illinois Code of Judicial Conduct which will become effective January 1, 2023.

The Honorable Lisa Holder White will take the oath on Thursday, July 7, as the newest member of the Supreme Court of Illinois, the first Black woman to sit on the state’s high court. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Rita B. Garman, who retires as the longest serving judge in Illinois. 

The Supreme Court of Illinois Committee on Equality announced today the creation of six subcommittees whose focus will be to concentrate on several precise and specific issues related to bringing equality and facilitating trust in the court system.
