The South Suburban Bar Association has a scholarship available to law students meeting the criteria set by the Association in the amount of $1,500.00.
The following criteria will be used in the selection process:
1. The recipient of the Scholarship Award shall be a deserving student of an
accredited local law school;
2. The student must be a resident of the South Suburbs of Cook County and must have a present interest to practice law in the South Suburbs upon graduation;
3. Financial need will be considered by the Scholarship Committee. The applicant can be expected to document his or her financial need when requested to do so by the Committee;
4. Each student interested in being considered for the Scholarship Award must submit a brief resume for review by the South Suburban Bar Association Committee. They must also include a cover letter (200 word maximum) indicating why they want to practice on the 'South-side'. The Committee may conduct interviews of applicants or alternatively, may in its discretion, recommend a candidate to the Board of South Suburban Bar Association based upon a review of the resumes submitted.
The resume and cover letter of the applicant must be received by the undersigned no later than November 6, 2009. Interviews will be tentatively held on November 14, 2009. Candidates will be contacted after November 6, 2009 to schedule interviews.
