The Illinois Supreme Court announced the filing of lawyer disciplinary orders on November 23, 2022. Sanctions were imposed because the lawyers engaged in professional misconduct by violating state ethics law.

The Illinois Supreme Court Pretrial Implementation Task Force (Task Force) will host its final in-person regional education seminar in Champaign on December 14th at the I Hotel & Conference Center to overview pretrial justice and the implementation of the Pretrial Fairness Act (PFA), which is scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2023. The PFA, legislation passed as part of Public Act 101-652, abolishes the use of cash bail in pretrial release decisions as of Jan. 1 and establishes new processes for pretrial release and detention decisions.
