On June 18, 2024, this court [the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit] issued notice that it proposed modifications to Circuit Rules 46 and 51, and the creation of Circuit Rule 46.1. The court carefully considered the comments received. The court hereby provides notice of adoption of the aforementioned changes, effective immediately [Dec. 31, 2024].

Marcia M. Meis, Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, announced today that the Tenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select Caryn J. Kamp as associate judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit. Ms. Kamp received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Columbia, Missouri, and her Juris Doctor in 2006 from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Kamp is currently affiliated with Kamp Law Office, Ltd. in Peoria, Illinois and Peoria County Public Defender’s Office in Peoria, Illinois.

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Robert C. Marsaglia of Morris to serve as a Commissioner of the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) for a term beginning on January 1, 2025, and expiring on December 31, 2027. The ARDC is the Supreme Court agency that oversees lawyer licensing and investigates allegations of lawyer wrongdoing in Illinois.

The 2024 Joint Midyear Meeting was held Dec. 12-13, 2024, at the JW Marriott, 151 West Adams Street, Chicago. Attendees celebrated the profession, discussed issues of mutual interest to the bench and bar, attended business meetings, earned CLE credit, and expanded their social and professional networks at receptions and dinners.

The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) announced today that the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine’s Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development (CRHSSD) has recently awarded $45,000 to rural drug courts in Illinois. Five rural counties including Pike, Williamson, Clinton, Marion, and Richland will receive funds to enhance existing programs and establish new ones in areas without these critical resources.
