Candidates for an associate judge vacancy in the 17th Judicial Circuit have been rated in an advisory poll of lawyers conducted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) in cooperation with the Winnebago County (WCBA) and Boone County (BCBA) bar associations. Results of this poll were provided to Chief Judge Eugene G. Doherty and were made available today online.

Orland Park Police Chief Timothy McCarthy will receive the ISBA Law Enforcement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) on July 2 during an Orland Park Village Board of Trustees meeting.

The ISBA Law Enforcement Award was created to recognize sworn law enforcement officers for conduct that promotes justice and to distinguish those individuals whose service to the public brings honor and respect to the entire criminal justice system. It recognizes those who excel in law enforcement.

Lockport Police Chief Terry Lemming will receive the ISBA Law Enforcement Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) on June 6 during a Lockport City Council meeting.

A high-quality reproduction of a famous Abraham Lincoln photograph will be presented to the the St. Clair County Courthouse on Tuesday, May 15. The unveiling ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the courthouse, 10 Public Square, Belleville. The event is open to the public.

The photograph was taken in Springfield by well-known photographer Alexander Hesler on June 3, 1860, for Lincoln’s 1860 presidential campaign. Historians consider Hesler’s portrait one of the best taken of Lincoln during his pre-presidential years.

SPRINGFIELD, IL, March 9, 2018 –Teams from 41 high schools throughout the state will participate in the 36th annual Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) High School Mock Trial Invitational on March 24-25, 2018, at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign.

The top eight teams will compete in the final round on March 25, for the state championship. The winner will represent Illinois at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Reno, Nevada.
