John Marshall seeking candidates for Edward T. and Noble W. Lee Chair in Con Law

The John Marshall Law School is seeking  candidates for the newly-established Edward T. and Noble W. Lee Chair in Constitutional Law – the school’s first academic Chair position. The school will appoint a qualified Constitutional Law  expert to this position, beginning in August, 2011. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2010. This Chair honors Edward T. Lee and his son, Noble W. Lee, both former Deans of The John Marshall Law School ,  for their shared interest in Constitutional Law, and their contributions to both the law school and legal education nationwide. Through scholarly research and published articles on relevant state and federal constitutional issues, the Chair appointee will further their legacy. “My grandfather Edward T. and uncle Noble W. Lee had great confidence in the ability of the constitutional framework (both federal and state) to deal with new, challenging issues - no mater how complex,” said John Richards Lee, President of The John Marshall Law School Foundation.  “As challenging issues continue to confront our judiciary  – such as detainee rights, enemy combat status, and the scope of freedom of speech under campaign finance laws – our hope is that this Chair will help instill a continued respect for Constitutional Law as a framework for progress in political and social justice.” The endowment of the Edward T. and Noble W. Lee Chair in Constitutional Law is made possible by $1 million in gifts from the extended Lee Family, and alumni and friends of The John Marshall Law School. Compensation is set at the Visiting Professor rate, with a generous annual stipend to reward research and scholarship in areas of federal and state constitutional law. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and list of four references to: Associate Dean Ralph Ruebner,The John Marshall Law School, 315 S.
