John G. Mulroe has been appointed as a Cook County Circuit Judge in the Tenth Judicial Subcircuit.

Mulroe was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas Allen. The appointment is effective June 21, and will conclude December 7, 2020, when the position will be filled by the November 2020 General Election.

Mulroe has served in the Illinois General Assembly as State Senator for the 10th Senate District since 2010. Since 1995, Mulroe has worked in private practice at John G. Mulroe, P.C., in Chicago. Mulroe previously spent six years an assistant state's attorney with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, and has also served as a hearing officer for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District.

Mulroe, who has been honored with multiple awards for his work in the legislature, received his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and his Juris Doctor from the Loyola University School of Law.
