Donald C. Stinespring, Sr. 1949 - 2022

Donald C. Stinespring, Sr., of McHenry, Illinois, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 6, 2022.

Don was born March 14, 1949, son of Harry and Mae (Marty) Stinespring. He married Susan Richards on August 22, 1969.

He graduated from McHenry High School in 1967. He attended and graduated from St. Olaf College in 1970 and then graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1973. He then joined his father's law firm in Chicago. After his father's passing, he opened his own law practice in Richmond, Illinois.

Don served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of McHenry. He is a former member and chairman of the Board of Directors of Centegra Health Systems (NIMC) and was also a board member of Chicago Manufacturing. He is an honorary member of the Richmond Rotary Club and was named as a Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. 

Don was the original founder of the RB Helmet Club organized in 1991. He was instrumental in an organization named Team Work Not Taxes, in getting a new football field and track built for Richmond Burton Community High School, prior to the new school being built.

Don enjoyed history and politics. He was a Life Member Order of Merit of the Republican National Committee and on the Republican Presidential Honor Roll.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, his sons, Donald C. Stinespring, Jr. (Kari) and Brenton C. Stinespring (Ali), daughter Carissa Grothman, and grandchildren, Rachel, Kelsey, Caleb, Keegan, Karena, and Paige.

He was an active member of Maranatha Assembly of God church in McHenry. He had a servant's heart and enriched the lives of those around him. He loved deeply, laughed often, and gave generously. His dedication to family was undeniable. He will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at Maranatha Assembly of God, 2505 N. Ringwood Road, McHenry, IL 60050, on April 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation time at 9:00 a.m. The service will be live streamed at: https://www.facebook.com/MaranathaMcHenry/
