Steven B. Bashaw, 71, formally of Chicago, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, and Naperville, IL, passed away due to a fatal heart attack on July 22, 2022.

Steven was born to Raymond Bashaw and Neila (Nee Booth) on March 2, 1951.

Beloved widower of Laura Bashaw of 50 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Cherished father of Captain Jennifer Jones, USN, (John), Kimberly Bashaw, Andrew Bashaw (Beth), and Daniel Bashaw (Sam). Loving grandfather of Alayna Bashaw, Lauren Jones, Erin Jones, Madeline Jones, Aiden Bashaw, Ava Bashaw, Juniper Bashaw, and Mikhail Bashaw. Steve leaves behind his beloved dog Iggy, who loved to go with Steve on fishing and camping adventures.

Steve grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. He attended De La Salle, Illinois Benedictine College, and Chicago-Kent. Steve was passionate about many things: Steve enjoyed helping others and his community, his family, the law, traveling, cycling, sailing, fly fishing, playing guitar, teaching motor cycle safety, and enjoyed many adventures. Being an accomplished Past Master and secretary of Hinsdale Masonic Lodge, a member of the Medina Shrine motor corps.

Whether sailing on his laser sailboat or his haram Scaram boat, gliding through the clouds in his plane, exploring the ocean floors with his two sons, bicycling with his children, roaring down the highways on his motorcycles with his wife at his side, or hauling the air stream for a weekend fishing excursion, the adventures never ceased. His greatest adventure of all was loving his family.

A celebration of his life will be held at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Visitation at 4:00 p.m., Masonic Rites at 6:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. is the Memorial Service. A cocktail party at 8:00 p.m. will follow.
