The ISBA offices will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 23, to Sunday, January 2. The offices will reopen on Monday, January 3. During this time, members can expect the following:
- E-Clips will not be delivered for the duration of this period.
- The Bar News will not be delivered on Thursday, December 23.
- Illinois Lawyer Now will not be delivered on Thursday, December 30.
All business and e-newsletter distribution will resume as usual on January 3, 2022.

The U.S. Attorney's Office Central District of Illinois is accepting applications for an Assistant United States Attorney opening in its Criminal Division to be located in Urbana, IL.
Applicants must be a United States citizen or national; submit to a background investigation, credit and tax checks, and drug test; be registered for selective service, if applicable; have a J.D. Degree; have at least three years post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience; and be active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).

Illinois Supreme Court Clerk Carolyn Taft Grosboll, who led the transformation of the office from paper to digital and other important efforts since January 3, 2011, has announced her retirement effective November 30, 2021. Cynthia A. Grant has been appointed as the new Clerk of the Supreme Court effective December 1, 2021.

Honorable Charles R. Winkler, 86, retired judge of the Cook County circuit court and Veteran, passed away in his home Sat. Oct. 2, surrounded by his loving wife Connie [nee Trumbull Wolf] and family members.
Born Jan. 12, 1935, to the late Charles and Teresa Winkler, he was a long time resident of Chicago, Riverside, and River Forest. A graduate of St. Mell's High School, Loyola University, and Depaul University, School of Law.
Charles served his country, 1958 - 1964 in the US Army as well as the Illinois National Guard.

Local attorney and community leader Douglas Dee Mustain passed away at the age of 75 on September 15,2021. He leaves behind a wife of 54 years, six children and six grandchildren.

The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized the appointment of a full-time United States magistrate judge for the Central District of Illinois at Springfield. The annual salary is $201,112. The eight-year term begins on March 23, 2022. A court’s essential function is to dispense justice. A community’s belief that a court dispenses justice is heightened when the court reflects the community’s racial, ethnic, and gender diversity.
