The Illinios Supreme Court has appointed the Hon. Mitchell L. Hoffman to Circuit Judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit, Fourth Subcircuit. This appointment is effective Feb. 3, 2014 and terminates on Dec. 5, 2016. Judge Mitchell currently serves as an associate judge in the 19th Circuit.

The Chicago Lawyers Hockey Team of the Chicago Masters Hockey League recently played their 6th annual United Center charity game against the Chicago Celebrity Allstars Hockey Team, which team included some Chicago Blackhawks alumni. The game benefited the Chicago Legal Clinic.

Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. announced today the promotion of Jennifer L. Ashley to Partner. Ms. Ashley joined Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. as a Senior Associate in March 2012. She concentrates her practice in the areas of catastrophic automobile accidents, personal injury, wrongful death and products liability. Ms. Ashley is the lead lawyer on over 25 Stryker and other hip replacement recall cases.
Ms. Ashley has negotiated and settled hundreds of cases throughout her career. Prior to joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, she spent 12 years at an auto insurance defense firm. She successfully tried over 100 cases to verdict before a jury, and has been published in the Cook County Jury Verdict Reporter over 70 times for successful verdicts in personal injury cases.

Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans announced Monday the appointment of Judge James P. Flannery, Jr. as Presiding Judge of the Law Division effective immediately. Judge Flannery, currently a trial judge in the Law Division, fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Law Division Presiding Judge William D. Maddux who retired Jan. 11, 2014.

Margaret "Peg" O'Donnell Coffin, 88, longtime resident of Oak Brook and Hinsdale, former judge, prosecutor, civic leader, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013.
She graduated first in her class in 1949 and was a member of the Law Review at St. John's University (NY) School of Law. Legal and business positions included: Circuit Court Judge of DuPage County; Assistant State's Attorney of DuPage County (Criminal Division); Executive Development Program graduate and Manager at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. in New York City. Extensive civic leadership included: Member, Hinsdale District 86 Board of Education; President, St. Isaac Jogues Board of Education; Founding Member, first President and Director of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers; Member and Acting Chairman, Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of Oak Brook; Chairman, Zoning & Annexation Committee for Oak Brook Civic Association in rewriting controversial proposed zoning ordinances and leading negotiations with developers over 1,500 acres in Oak Brook's early days; President, Director and Co-Founder of the Fullersburg Woods Area Association; and Executive Board Member, Education Advisory Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Joliet.
Always a woman of diverse interests, her passions ranged from being a private plane pilot, including aerobatic flying, to her behind-the-scenes efforts in local political campaigns and initiatives.
