The Forms Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice is seeking new committee members.
The Forms Committee itself does not draft forms. It has overall responsibility for deciding what forms should be developed and creating subcommittees to develop them, reviewing forms to ensure that they comply with the mandate of the Supreme Court, and giving final approval for the forms to be published for use.
As more and more litigants choose to represent themselves, Illinois courts continue their effort to adapt to this "new normal" (see the October 2017 IBJ cover story.) One such adaptation is a program launched by the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice late last year that gives grants to 13 judicial circuits to help them better serve pro se litigants and manage their impact on the justice system.
Chief Justice Rita B. Garman and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Appellate Court Justice Mary K. Rochford as the new Chair of the Commission on Access to Justice.
Justice Rochford's appointment took effect July 6 and will terminate on June 15, 2017. She replaces Bloomington attorney Timothy W. Kelly, who resigned as Chair on July 6. Mr. Kelly will continue to serve on the Commission as a member.
The Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice Forms Committee is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on its Forms Committee.
