The ISBA Election in the Spring of 2017 will elect the new Third Vice President, five seats on the Board of Governors (Cook – 2, Under age 37 Outside Cook – 1, Under age 37 Cook – 2) and 21 Cook County Assembly seats. Nominating petitions are now being accepted and must be filed by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at either the Illinois Bar Center, 424 South 2nd Street, in Springfield or the ISBA Office at 20 S. Clark Street, 9th Floor, Chicago. Petitions must be physically submitted with original signatures. Petitions submitted via email or fax will not be accepted.
Campaign season for the 2017 Illinois State Bar Association election began October 1 for open leadership seats of 3rd Vice President; Board of Governors for Cook County (2), Under Age 37 Cook County (2), Under Age 37 Outside Cook County (1); and Assembly Cook County (21). ISBA election voting begins in late March and concludes April 28, 2017.

David Sosin of Orland Park won the race for third vice-president of the Illinois State Bar Association, and Nora Ann Doherty, Bridget Duignan, Albert Durkin, Pamela Sakowicz Menaker and E. Kenneth Wright, Jr., all of Chicago, won Cook County seats on the Board of Governors. Angelica W. Wawrzynek of Mattoon won the contested race for the Under 37 Outside Cook County seat on the Board. Elizabeth M. Rochford of Waukegan, Keith Fruehling of Champaign-Urbana and Carey Gill of Carbondale won uncontested Board seats.

Ballots were distributed to all eligible voters* on March 28, 2016. ISBA's election provider VR Election Services (VRES) emailed e-ballots to members with valid email addresses and mailed paper ballots to members without valid email addresses on Monday, March 28, 2016. Voting ends at 4:30 PM CT Friday, April 29.
