    Chester J. Claudon Jr. 1922-2020

    Chester Joseph Claudon Jr., 97, of Jupiter, FL, passed away on May 20, 2020. He was born in Fairbury, IL on June 17, 1922, to Chester and Leona (James) Claudon, Sr.

    Chet was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Martha Soldwedel Claudon, and four children, Chester Claudon (Carol), Ann Swirsky (Charles), Tom Claudon (Jenny), and Timm Claudon (Beth). Also surviving are Chet's sister, Virginia Allen, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    2020 ISBA Annual Meeting Cancelled

    The ISBA has canceled the 2020 Annual Meeting due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

    The meeting, scheduled for June 18­–20 in St. Louis, will not be rescheduled. The officers of the ISBA made this difficult decision giving priority to the health and wellbeing of our members and staff.

    Melvin R. Bramson, 90, of Boynton Beach, FL, April 30, 2020. Died just 16 days following the death of his beloved wife, Elissa "Cookie."

    Loving stepfather of Laurence, Raizel, Gary, and Steven. Stepfather of Jason, Zachary, Brian, Jacob, Brett, Robert-Josef, Samuel, Austin, and Megan. Step-Great grandfather of six. Son of the late Rose and Herman Abramson. Loving brother of the late Harriet Abramson.

    John R. Luedtke 1932-2020

    John R. Luedtke, 87, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Bloomington, died March 30, 2020, at Rolling Green Village, Greenville, S.C., with family by his side. He had been under the care of Lutheran Hospice.

    John was born June 14, 1932, in LaSalle-Peru. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Luedtke, and his mother, Harriet Moran Luedtke. He is survived by his wife, Patricia. Also surviving are daughter, Jacqui (Terry) Foster, Greenville, S.C.; son, Tim (Lily) Luedtke, Hattiesburg, Miss.; two grandchildren, Drake Luedtke and Kayla Luedtke, Jackson, Miss.; and a sister, Jane (John) Seiler, Savoy.

    Gerald Hart Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at his home at the age of 85.

    He was born October 17, 1934, on his father’s birthday, in Anna, Illinois, the only child of Dr. O.E. Johnson and Elsie Hartline Johnson.

He has represented construction companies in numerous contractual disputes in court, and he has advised construction companies concerning legal issues for Missouri, Illinois, and federal projects. He has also represented corporate clients in insurance coverage and subrogation litigation, and he advises clients on employment agreements and non-compete agreements.

    Join ISBA’s Group Admissions Ceremony to Practice Before the U.S. Supreme Court

    Every few years, the Illinois State Bar Association organizes an admission ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court. This year's ceremony will take place June 14-15, 2020, in Washington, D.C.

    Only 50 spots will be available. A special group hotel room rate will be available at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel for admittees, their families, and guests.

    To be eligible, you must be an active lawyer member of the ISBA, admitted to practice more than 3 years, and not have any adverse disciplinary action pronounced or in effect during that 3-year period.
